Tunisia and Senegal will co-host this year’s edition of the AfroBasket men’s national team tournament from the 8th-16th of September.
This was announced on Monday, this week by Fiba Africa, the governing body of basketball on the African continent.
The event will feature four groups of four teams.
The Senegalese capital of Dakar will host two groups, while Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, will host the other two.
The group stage phase will run from the 8th-10th September.
Tunis will also stage the final phase, which consists of the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals, from the 14th-16th September.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the final phase.
The participating teams are, Angola, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Cote d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Guinea, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tunisia and Uganda.
Tunisia also staged the 2015 edition of the AfroBasket, which takes place every two years.
Nigeria claimed its first AfroBasket title two years ago with a 74-65 victory over Angola in the final.
