Malawians are breathing a sigh of relief after their President Peter Mutharika returned home after almost a month of being away, having traveled to the United Nations General Assembly meeting where he made his remarks on September 25 and then disappeared.  Malawians were afraid that what happened to his brother might have happened to him: die in office, or in this case die while in a foreign country like a lot of African presidents. However, Mutharika returned home on Sunday October 16, but the speculation about his health continued, after he refused to make a speech and then shaking hands with people with his left hand.  He has since explained that he has rheumatism on his right hand.
